Health Careers Shadow Day

for High School students in the Vermont counties of Addison, Chittenden, Franklin & Grand Isle

SHADOW DAY is a one day Health Careers Exploration Program in partnership with Fletcher Allen Health Care, Northwestern Medical Center, and Porter Medical Center. Shadow Day offers an opportunity for high school students, in grades 10 through 12, to develop comfort in the health care field, shadow a health care professional in his/her work setting (one 2-3 hour job shadow), and to explore, as well as strengthen skills and resources needed for such a career. Students will also receive confidentiality and infection control training, and interactive presentations by health care professionals.

If selected for Shadow Day, there is a $25 fee (some scholarship money may be available.) Lunch is included and snacks are provided. Students must arrange for their own transportation to and from the event.

In an effort to create a greener and more sustainable community, Champlain Valley AHEC has decided to move to an ONLINE APPLICATION PROCESS for all programs, including Shadow Day. All applications are available through email as early as 45 days in advance of the event. There is no fee to apply.

Once we receive your email, we will send you (via email) a private application link. Please read all email and application instructions VERY CAREFULLY before completing the application. In addition, you are responsible to print out the following two forms - Shadow Day Applicant and Guardian Agreement and Shadow Day Recommendation Form, complete and sign them, and return them to Champlain Valley AHEC before March 28, 2012 (Fletcher Allen Shadow Day).
