Speakers Make a Difference at CVU - You Can Too!
The Champlain Valley AHEC staff worked with Patti Tomashot, Director of Guidance at Champlain Valley Union (CVU) High School to locate speakers for the school's 9th Grade Career Panel Day on January 17. The goal of the day was "to help students learn about the breadth of stories that show the journey from the ninth grade self to the person who finds meaningful work throughout life."
We want to thank Molly Backup, PA at Evergreen Family Health, Ellen Grimes, RDH, MA, MPA, EdD Dental Hygiene Program Director at the Vermont Technical College, Audrey Monroe, LICSW with the Fletcher Allen Health Care (FAHC) Community Health Team and Nicolina Mulcahy, Health Coach with the FAHC Community Health Team.
The panel members considered these questions developed by the CVU staff and then responded to student inquires.
The speakers enjoyed the opportunity to talk about their professional lives and journeys to those lives.

Clinical Tools for Community Providers
When’s the last time you had the time to visit the medical library at your community hospital to research a challenging medical issue? For that matter, does your hospital even have a library? If you are a very busy clinician and want timely access from your office or home to evidence-based information, journal articles and databases available at UVM’s Dana Medical Library, check out these options:
Another helpful tool is an UpToDate subscription. To acknowledge and support your vital role in the community as a physician and preceptor for a UVM medical student in the past year, we may be able to partially subsidize one UpToDate subscription at your practice. For more information, please contact Judy Wechsler at jwechsler@cvahec.org.

Students will have the opportunity to visit the many exhibits and displays, speak with employers, military personnel, Vermont Student Assistance Corporation (VSAC) counselors, agency and public service representatives and college recruiters. Job applications for summer and career employment will be taken.
Contests and cash prizes for students who impress exhibitors or submit outstanding resumes are available through the Career Expo.
The Expo will be open to the public between the hours of 12:00-5:00 pm. Students who want to spend more time with exhibitors are welcome to return at this time.
