Please read the program overview and participant eligibility carefully since this is updated by the State of Vermont annually and changes based on the greatest, current statewide workforce shortages and needs.

Vermont Educational Loan Program for Primary Care Practitioners

The Vermont Educational Loan Repayment Program for Primary Care Practitioners is funded by the State of Vermont through the Department of Health, and is administered by The Robert Larner, M.D. College of Medicine at the University of Vermont Area Health Education Centers (AHEC) Program. The goal of this program is to ensure a stable and adequate supply of primary care practitioners to meet the health care needs of Vermonters. Primary Care ELR Flyer (PDF)
ELR Applications and Forms

Primary Care and Psychiatry Practitioners:

  • Employer matching is required.
  • Service commitments are for two years (not one year) at the worksite specified in the application (and defined in the service contract, if awarded funds).

Vermont Educational Loan Program for Dentists

The Vermont Educational Loan Repayment Program for Dentists is funded by the State of Vermont through the Department of Health, and is administered by The Robert Larner, M.D. College of Medicine at the University of Vermont Area Health Education Centers (AHEC) Program.
