CVAHEC recently hosted three Vietnamese doctors at the St. Albans office.
Dr.
Phuc Tan Huynh, Country Program Manager from Hanoi, Dr.
Chuon Phan,
Medical Doctor, General Planning Department, Tu Du Obstetrics-Gynecology
Hospital in Ho Chi Minh City, and Dr. Hien Thi Thu
Tran, Project
Coordinator, World Concern Development Organization in Hanoi are all
participants in a project through the U.S. Department of State for doctors
with non-governmental organizations whose clients are minorities and/or
disadvantaged people in poor rural areas.
The Department of State project attempts to address Vietnam's substantial need for developing a coordinated, integrative approach to rural medicine by looking at the delivery of health care to underserved populations and focusing on working with poor, isolated communities and socially and ethnically diverse groups.
The Vietnamese doctors spent about an hour touring the CVAHEC office and speaking with Former Executive Director Rob Trachtenberg about the CVAHEC experience in working with an underserved and rural population. Rob was proud to offer our insights and experience in working with residents of the Champlain Valley to improve access to quality healthcare.
