What is a physical therapist?
A physical therapist, PT for short, restores, maintains and promotes the best possible physical health for their patients. They help prevent, identify, correct and fix movement problems. A PT might work with anyone from an injured athlete to a senior citizen dealing with arthritis. They help the patient with exercises, strength training, stretching, and activities to help movement. After the PT sessions are done the patient should be able to continue the exercises at home.
Where does a PT work?
They could work in a sports center, rehabilitation center, nursing home, a hospital, or in their own private office, to name a few.
What type of education is needed?
A master's or a doctorate degree is needed and a certification exam must be taken.
What is the salary?
A PT's average salary in Vermont is $62,192.
How could a PT advance?
They could pursue a degree in business to open their own office or become an instructor.
