A dietetic technician works under the supervision of a registered dietitian to help plan and put into place healthy food programs and services. A dietetic technician screens patients to find nutritional problems and provides them with
education and counseling.

A dietetic technician may work in a community health center, a prison, a health club, a nursing home, or in a school.

What type of education is needed?

An associate's degree from an approved program is needed. To be certified, a national exam needs to be taken as well.
